Inner Solar System Workshop creates space for cross-disciplinary collaboration

The Rice Space Institute’s Center for Planetary Origins to Habitability (CPO2H) recently hosted the Inner Solar System Workshop. This event brought together approximately 80 researchers from 25 institutes across the U.S. and Europe to Rice University to share research and host discussions on accretion of terrestrial planets, solar system formation and evolution, geochemistry and cosmochemistry of astromaterials and volatile delivery and planetary differentiation and interior-surface exchanges through time.

Rice Earth, Planetary & Space Open House

Rice University’s inflatable, indoor practice field was transformed Feb. 28 into something perhaps a little bit ironic but nonetheless exciting: an Earth, environmental, planetary and space sciences exhibition open to kids and their families.

Rice-HISD Planetary and Space Exploration Education Project

Rice University and the Houston Independent School District (HISD) will collaborate on a space and planetary science pilot program to inspire the next generation of Earth, planetary and space enthusiasts and professionals. The program will provide HISD K-12 students and teachers with enrichment opportunities, including campus visits, internships, and hands-on learning experiences. Rice faculty and students will also collaborate with NASA and local industry leaders to engage and support the future workforce in the growing space industry.
